American J.J. Wolf, the No 8 seed, reached the semi-finals of the Atlanta Open by defeating German Dominik Koepfer 6-2, 6-3 on Friday evening.
Wolf, ranked No 46, will face the winner of the match between American Taylor Fritz, the top seed, and Japanese Kei Nishikori next.
The American won against qualifier Jason Jung (6-2, 6-1) and Maxime Cressy (7-6 (7), 6-3) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Koepfer, ranked No 88, edged out American John Isner (3-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3)) and No 3 seed Daniel Evans (2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4).
