No 8 seed Max Purcell won against Christopher O’Connell 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Atlanta Open at the Atlanta Athletic Club on Wednesday evening.
Purcell, ranked No 66, will play Belgian David Goffin next.
