Mackenzie McDonald defeated No 7 seed Brandon Nakashima 6-2, 6-4 to reach the second round of the Atlanta Open at the Atlanta Athletic Club.
McDonald, ranked No 97, will play Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka next.
