Astana Open: Khachanov moves into quarter-finals

Russian Karen Khachanov reached the quarter-finals of the Astana Open by winning against Croat Marin Čilić, the No 9 seed, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the Daulet National Tennis Center in Nur-Sultan on Thursday.
Khachanov, ranked No 18, will face the winner of the match between Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp and Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 4 seed, next.
Ahead of his victory, the Russian defeated American Maxime Cressy (6-4, 7-6 (3)). Čilić, ranked No 14, won against German Oscar Otte (5-7, 7-6 (4), 6-2). He just arrived from a long journey from Tel Aviv, where he reached the final against Novak Djokovic.
