Arnaldi ousts Shapovalov in Miami
Matteo Arnaldi won against Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6 (7) on Sunday evening. He’ll play the winner of the match between Tomas Machac and Andy Murray in the next round
Italian Matteo Arnaldi defeated Canadian Denis Shapovalov 6-3, 7-6 (7) to move into the last 16 of the Miami Masters at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday evening.
Arnaldi, ranked No 38, will face the winner of the match between Tomas Machac and Andy Murray next.
The Italian won against Frenchman Arthur Fils (6-3, 6-4) and Kazakh Alexander Bublik, the No 17 seed (6-4, 6-1) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Miami Open, Shapovalov, ranked No 126, edged out Italian Luciano Darderi (6-3, 6-7 (3), 6-4) and beat Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 10 seed (6-2, 6-4).
