Argentina Open: Cerundolo downs younger brother to make last eight

No 5 seed Francisco Cerundolo reached the last eight of the Argentina Open by beating qualifier and younger brother Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-2, 6-3 at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club on Wednesday.

The battle between Cerundolo brothers lasted for an hour, 17 minutes. The world No 28 clinched victory by securing three breaks and saving four break points.

Cerundolo, ranked No 28, will play German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, next.

Ahead of his victory, Francisco Cerundolo won against Italian Luciano Darderi (6-4, 6-4).

Cerundolo, ranked No 139, edged out qualifier Roman Andres Burruchaga (7-6 (4), 5-7, 7-5) in the previous round of the Buenos Aires Open.
