Khachanov wins second title of 2024 with Almaty victory

Russian Karen Khachanov, the No 3 seed, won the Almaty Open tournament by beating Canadian Gabriel Diallo 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 at Almaty Arena on Sunday.
Earlier in the tournament, Khachanov, ranked No 26, defeated Finn Otto Virtanen (7-6 (2), 7-6 (3)), Kazakh wildcard Beibit Zhukayev (6-2, 6-4) and Australian Aleksandar Vukic (6-7 (3), 6-3, 6-4).
Diallo, ranked No 118, beat Australian Christopher O’Connell (7-6 (5), 6-2), Croat Borna Coric (7-6 (1), 6-4), Chilean Alejandro Tabilo, the second seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 4 seed (6-4, 6-2) in the previous rounds of the Almaty tournament.
