Alert – Sinner defeats Dimitrov to win Miami Open
Jannik Sinner won the trophy on Sunday evening against Grigor Dimitrov
Italian Jannik Sinner, the second seed, defeated Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 11 seed, 6-3, 6-1 to win the Miami Masters title at the Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday evening.
Ahead of his victory, Sinner, ranked No 3, beat qualifier Andrea Vavassori (6-3, 6-4), Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, the No 25 seed (5-7, 7-5, 6-1), Australian Christopher O’Connell (6-4, 6-3), Tomas Machac (6-4, 6-2) and Russian Daniil Medvedev, the No 3 seed (6-1, 6-2).
Dimitrov, ranked No 12, beat Chilean Alejandro Tabilo (6-7 (5), 7-6 (5), 6-2), German Yannick Hanfmann (6-1, 6-0), Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 8 seed (3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (3)), Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the top seed (6-2, 6-4) and German Alexander Zverev, the No 4 seed (6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
