Alert: Draper defeats Alcaraz in Indian Wells semis
Jack Draper beat Carlos Alcaraz in three sets on Saturday in Indian Wells. It will be Draper vs. Holger Rune in the championship match.
No 13 seed Jack Draper edged out Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, 6-1, 0-6, 6-4 to move into the final of the BNP Paribas Open at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday afternoon.
Draper, ranked No 14, will battle No 12 seed Holger Rune for the title on Sunday.
In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells Masters, the British left-hander beat Brazilian wildcard Joao Fonseca (6-4, 6-0), American Jenson Brooksby (7-5, 6-4), American Taylor Fritz, the No 3 seed (7-5, 6-4) and American Ben Shelton, the No 11 seed (6-4, 7-5).
Alcaraz, ranked No 3, advanced to the semi-finals with wins over Quentin Halys (6-4, 6-2), Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 27 seed (6-2, 6-4), Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 14 seed (6-1, 6-1) and Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 25 seed (6-3, 7-6 (4)).
