Alcaraz won’t win 20 Slams – but nor will anyone else, says Bartoli
In the new episode of Match Points, Marion Bartoli says that the records broken by the Big Three will never be equalled
Carlos Alcaraz might be the new world No 1 with his first Grand Slam title under his belt – but GOAT status is well beyond his reach.
That’s according to Marion Bartoli in the latest episode of Match Points – where she says that nobody will ever come close to the achievements of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
“I think there is absolutely zero chance that anyone ever – not only Carlos Alcaraz – will reach the bar of 20 or more [Grand Slams],” she told host Josh Cohen.
“I think what the three guys have been achieving over those years is out of normality and I don’t think anyone can replicate it.
“Carlos’s achievement at the US Open was amazing, but I don’t think it’s realistic to set the bar for him at 20 and over.”
The Spaniard, at the age of 19, is the youngest man to reach the top of the ATP rankings.
He won his maiden US Open title by beating Casper Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (1), 6-3.
