Alcaraz back to No 1, Rune hits a career-high at No 6
Carlos Alcaraz ireturned to the top of the rankins on Monday, followed by Daniil Medvedev, who is also getting very close again
The Masters 1000 of Rome has shaken things up at the top! This Monday when one looks at the ranking, the first visible change is that Novak Djokovic has not only lost the throne but also a spot in the first two positions in that ranking: he will be seeded third at Roland-Garros and so could face Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-finals.
Despite his early loss in Rome, Alcaraz is back at the top of the men’s game right on time for Paris. He is followed by Daniil Medvedev who, by clinching his first-ever title on clay, has made sure to avoid the Spaniard in his side of the draw at Roland-Garros. He also has the throne in sight as he’s only at 485 points behind Alcaraz, and has a nice lead in the Race: 845 points ahead of Alcaraz and 1555 ahead of Djokovic.
The other big winner in this new ranking is Holger Rune, who has now hit a career-high ranking of World No.6 by reaching the final in Rome. He’s just 400 points away from making the top five for the first time.
