French lucky loser Manuel Guinard advanced to the second round of the Adelaide Open by winning against Russian Roman Safiullin 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-1 at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre on Tuesday.
Guinard, ranked No 261, will play top seed Tommy Paul next.
