Adelaide Open: Paul through to last four

American Tommy Paul, the top seed, beat Australian lucky loser Rinky Hijikata 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semi-finals of the Adelaide Open at the Memorial Drive Tennis Centre on Thursday.
Paul, ranked No 12, will face the winner of the match between Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime, the No 5 seed, and American Marcos Giron next.
The American won against French lucky loser Manuel Guinard (6-4, 3-6, 6-3) ahead of his victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Hijikata, ranked No 79, won against Belgian David Goffin (6-1, 6-2) and edged out American Brandon Nakashima, the No 7 seed (6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (5)).
