Tien upends Norrie to reach second round in Acapulco

American qualifier Learner Tien won against Cameron Norrie 7-6 (5), 6-3 to advance to the second round of the Mexican Open at the Arena GNP Seguros in Acapulco on Tuesday.

Tien defeated Norrie in an hour, 52 minutes on the back five break-point conversions, averaging 65 percent on the second-serve return.

Tien, ranked No 83, will play the winner of the match between German Alexander Zverev, the top seed, and Italian Matteo Arnaldi next.
