ATP Rankings: Shapovalov re-enters top 50, De Minaur back to No 6
On Monday Denis Shapovalov will return to the ATP’s top-50 for the first time since 2023. This and more in today’s ATP ranking report
Two 500-level indoor events created plenty of excitement on the ATP Tour last week. On Monday the rankings will reflect the hard work of a select few players who went above and beyond.
Without any further ado, let’s have a look at this week’s biggest ranking risers on the ATP Tour.
Shapo Supreme (+22)
Last year at this time Denis Shapovalov was ranked 127 and had to participate in qualifying at Rotterdam. A year later the Canadian is well on his way back to the top-20. He took a giant leap in that direction in Dallas last week, where he defeated the top three seeds en route to his biggest career title. For his efforts, Shapovalov will rise 22 spots to No 32 in Monday’s rankings.
It’s the first time Shapovalov has been ranked that high since October of 2023.
Demon gonna Demon (+2)
Alex de Minaur continued to prove that he is no flash in the pan inside the ATP’s top-10. The Aussie powered into the final at Rotterdam and, as a result, rises back to his previous career-high ranking at No 6.
He nearly took out Carlos Alcaraz in Sunday’s final, but the Spaniard picked up his level and sailed away with a hard-fought three-set victory.
Bellucci has arrived!
Italy’s Mattia Bellucci is the latest in a long line of Italian success stories on the ATP Tour, and last week in Rotterdam was his coming out party. The 23-year-old southpaw, in possession of a clever, cunning game, defeated Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas in consecutive matches to reach his maiden ATP semi-final.
He jumps 24 spots, from No 92 to a career-high No 68 as a result.
Bellucci is now the 8th highest-ranked Italian on the ATP Tour.
Top Czech Tomas Machac (+1)
Tomas Machac gains one spot in the rankings after his quarter-final run in Dallas. As a result, he flip-flops with Jiri Lehecka in the rankings to be come the top-ranked Czech male for the first time in his career, at No 24.
Munar closing in on top-50 (+11)
A run to the semi-finals at the Dallas Open takes 27-year-old Jaume Munar to the cusp of a lifetime goal – the top-50. He rises 11 spots to land just shy of his career-high ranking, at No 53. It was his first ever 500-level semi-final.
Altmaier on the up
Daniel Altmaier had a great week in Rotterdam, reaching the quarter-finals. He jumps 13 spots to No 80.
