Federer and I will play a match here in future, Nadal assures Colombia crowd
Two of the GOATs may be seen soon on an exhibition court near you
Rafael Nadal is currently featuring in an exhibition in South America – and surprised fans in Bogota, Colombia, by telling them that one day in the future he is confident he and Roger Federer will play a match together there.
Describing the recently-retired Swiss as “a good partner for a few years, perhaps the greatest rival of my sports career”, the 22-time Grand Slam champion said that Federer had not been able to travel there “because of a very difficult situation”.
Nadal added: “He always told me about the great disappointment and sadness that this caused him. And honestly, from here, I say that I am confident that in the future I can be here with him, playing a game in front of all of us.”
Nadal also mentioned that he had not travelled to Colombia himself since 2011, but called it “an incredible country”.
He is currently playing a series of matches across the Latin America region with Casper Ruud.
