WTA rankings: Paolini reaches career-high No 4, Collins back in top 10, Sabalenka extends lead
French Open and Wimbledon runner-up Paolini is now the joint-highest ranked Italian woman in history

The WTA rolled out its latest rankings on Monday, October 28, celebrating Italian Jasmine Paolini‘s rise to a career-high level and welcoming American Danielle Collins back to the top 10. The update also saw Serbian Olga Danilovic attain a career-high ranking and leap closer to the top 50.
Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia exited the top 10 after dropping the points she earned during a title-winning run at the WTA Elite Trophy last year, dropping seven places to world No 17. Haddad-Maia’s fall helped Collins rise to 10th place in the updated singles rankings.
The biggest achiever, however, turned out to be Paolini, who benefitted from American Jessica Pegula losing her runners-up points at the 2023 WTA Finals. She moved up two spots to become the new world No 4, tying former French Open champion Francesca Schiavone as the highest ranked Italian woman in the history.
World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka and No 2 Iga Swiatek also saw their year-end Championships points drop off, resulting in Sabalenka extending her lead from 41 points to 1,046 points.

Paolini has enjoyed impressive success on the Tour this year, reaching the finals at the French Open (lost to Iga Swiatek) and at Wimbledon (lost to Barbora Krejcikova). In the other two Grand Slam tournaments, the Australian Open and US Open, she made it to the fourth round.
Danilovic, Shnaider, and Andreeva reach new levels
Olga Danilovic jumped 34 places to become the new world No 52, a career-best for the Serbian, on the back of a title-winning performance at the Guangzhou Open, where she beat American Caroline Dolehide (6-3, 6-1) in the final.
Russians Diana Shnaider and Mirra Andreeva also earned respective career-high rankings on Monday. Helped by a semi-final finish in Tokyo, Shnaider became the new world No 14 (previous best – world No 16). Andreeva benefitted from Haddad-Maia’s decline and improved by one place to reach a career-high ranking of world No 16.

- Anna Blinkova — improves 10 spots to No 75
- Caroline Dolehide — improves 23 spots to No 78
- Sofia Kenin — improves 67 spots to No 88
Jabeur falls nine places, Garcia out of Top 50
Tunisian Ons Jabeur dropped nine places in the new WTA rankings on Monday to become the world No 41. Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia also slipped out of the top 50 after sliding eight spots.
Notably, Jabeur and Garcia have already ended their seasons — both struggling with shoulder injuries.
