Madrid Open: Jabeur’s resurgence continues, makes quarter-finals

Tunisian Ons Jabeur, the No 8 seed, won against Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, the No 9 seed, 6-0, 6-4 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Madrid Open at the Caja Magica on Monday.
This is the first week this year in which she has recorded back-to-back wins.
Jabeur, ranked No 9, will play the winner of the match between No 3 seed Coco Gauff and No 18 seed Madison Keys next.
The Tunisian defeated Slovak Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (6-4, 5-7, 6-3) and edged out Canadian Leylah Fernandez, the No 32 seed (7-5, 2-6, 6-4) in the previous rounds of the Madrid tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Ostapenko, ranked No 10, won against Spanish qualifier Jessica Bouzas Maneiro (6-3, 6-1) and Argentinian qualifier Maria Lourdes Carle (6-3, 6-3).
