Linz Open: Potapova wins second career singles title

Russian Anastasia Potapova, the No 8 seed, beat Croat Petra Martic, the No 6 seed, 6-3, 6-1 to win the Linz Open trophy at the Design Center Linz on Sunday.
Ahead of her victory, Potapova, ranked No 44, defeated Italian Lucia Bronzetti (2-6, 6-3, 6-4), German Jule Niemeier (7-5, 3-6, 6-3), German qualifier Anna-Lena Friedsam (2-6, 6-4, 6-1) and Czech Marketa Vondrousova (6-1, 6-7 (4), 6-3).
Martic, ranked No 34, beat Spanish qualifier Marina Bassols Ribera (6-1, 7-5), Belgian Alison Van Uytvanck (6-4, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3)), Dane lucky loser Clara Tauson (6-4, 7-5) and Greek Maria Sakkari, the top seed (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) earlier in the tournament.
