Romanian Irina-Camelia Begu, the No 3 seed, defeated German Tamara Korpatsch 6-4, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Lausanne Open at Tennis Club du Stade-Lausanne on Tuesday.
Begu, ranked No 49, will face Russian Anastasia Potapova next.
