Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia, the No 3 seed, reached the last 8 of the Korea Open by beating Australian Ajla Tomljanovic 6-3, 6-4 at the Olympic Park Tennis Center in Seoul on Thursday.
Haddad Maia, ranked No 17, will face lucky loser Polina Kudermetova next.
In the previous round of the Seoul tournament, Tomljanovic, ranked No 122, won against wildcard Su Jeong Jang (7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-3).
