German Tatjana Maria, the No 5 seed, reached the last 16 of the Hungarian Open by winning against Frenchwoman Carole Monnet 3-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 at Római Tennis Academy in Budapest on Monday afternoon.
Maria, ranked No 67, will play the winner of the match between Hungarian wildcard Fanny Stollar and Spanish qualifier Irene Burillo Escorihuela next.
