Yue Yuan advanced to the last four of the Golden Gate Open at Stanford after Zhuoxuan Bai withdrew before the match on Thursday evening.
Yuan, ranked No 113, will face Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the second seed, next.
Ahead of her victory, Yue Yuan defeated American Katie Volynets (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0) and Ukrainian Kateryna Baindl, the No 6 seed (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2).
Bai, ranked No 136, won against American Claire Liu, the No 3 seed (2-6, 7-6 (3), 6-3) and Spaniard Marina Bassols Ribera (6-4, 6-2) earlier in the tournament.
