Canberra Open: Ito sets up semi-final clash against top seed Diaz
The Japanese woman defeated Nina Stojanovic 6-2, 7-6 (6) in the second round on Thursday

Japanese Aoi Ito, the No 7 seed, advanced to the semi-finals of the Canberra Open by winning against Serb Nina Stojanovic 6-2, 7-6 (6) at the Canberra Tennis Centre on Thursday.
Ito, ranked No 126, will face Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz, the top seed, next.
The 20-year-old Japanese defeated Russian Maria Timofeeva (6-4, 7-5) and Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich (6-1, 6-2) ahead of her win today.
In the previous rounds of the tournament, Stojanovic, ranked No 250, won against Argentinian qualifier Solana Sierra (6-2, 6-1) and Australian wildcard Petra Hule (6-2, 6-3).
