Cali Open: Arango moves into last eight
Emiliana Arango won against Renata Zarazua 6-3, 6-3 on Thursday evening and will face the winner of the match between Italian qualifier Martina Colmegna and Colombian wildcard Yuliana Lizarazo in the next round
Colombian wildcard Emiliana Arango advanced to the quarter-finals of the Cali Open by winning against Mexican Renata Zarazua 6-3, 6-3 at the Club Campestre de Cali on Thursday evening.
Arango, ranked No 350, will play the winner of the match between Italian qualifier Martina Colmegna and Colombian wildcard Yuliana Lizarazo next.
In the previous round of the Cali tournament, the 22-year-old Colombian beat Canadian Carol Zhao, the No 7 seed (6-4, 6-3).
Zarazua, ranked No 275, won against American Jessie Aney (6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-1) in the previous round of the Cali tournament.
