Bogota Open: Brancaccio into last 8, plays Maria next
Nuria Brancaccio beat Sinja Kraus 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday and will play German Tatjana Maria, the second seed, in the next round
Italian qualifier Nuria Brancaccio won against Austrian qualifier Sinja Kraus 6-2, 6-2 to advance to the quarter-finals of the Bogota Open at the Country Club Bogota on Thursday.
This is the first time that Brancaccio has advanced to the quarter-finals of an event at the WTA level.
Brancaccio, ranked No 206, will play German Tatjana Maria, the second seed and defending champion, next.
In the previous round of the Colombia Open, the 22-year-old Italian defeated Greek Despina Papamichail (6-2, 6-2).
Kraus, ranked No 168, beat Argentinian Nadia Podoroska, the No 8 seed (6-4, 7-6 (4)) in the previous round of the Colombia Open.
