Lucky loser Elina Avanesyan won against Anna Blinkova 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 to move into the last eight of the Berlin Open at Rot-Weiss Tennis Club on Wednesday.

Avanesyan, ranked No 81, will next meet Croat Donna Vekic, who beat Kazakh Elena Rybakina, the second seed.

Elina Avanesyan edged out No 8 seed Daria Kasatkina (6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7)) ahead of her victory.

In the previous round of the Berlin tournament, Blinkova, ranked No 44, edged out German qualifier Laura Siegemund (6-3, 6-7 (3), 7-5).
