American Frances Tiafoe, the No 23 seed, defeated Italian qualifier Andrea Vavassori 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the second round of Wimbledon at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London on Monday.
Tiafoe, ranked No 28, will face the winner of the match between German qualifier Maximilian Marterer and Slovenian Aljaz Bedene in the second round.
