Roland-Garros: Paolini ends Andreescu’s run in three sets
Jasmine Paolini did not lose a single game in the third set of her Roland-Garros third-round match against Bianca Andreescu on Saturday. Paolini will face Elina Avanesyan in the last 16.

Jasmine Paolini, the No 12 seed, beat Canadian Bianca Andreescu 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 to reach the last 16 at Roland-Garros on Saturday evening. Paolini advanced after one hour and 33 minutes.
After dropping set two, the reigning Dubai champion completely dominated the third. She won all six games and did not even get pushed to deuce a single time.
Paolini, ranked No 15, will face Russian Elina Avanesyan next.
Earlier in the tournament the Italian beat Australian Daria Saville (6-3, 6-4) and American lucky loser Hailey Baptiste (6-4, 7-6 (6)).
Andreescu, ranked No 228, had not played since August of 2023 at the Canadian Open due to injury. Her comeback in Paris was a good one, as prior to Saturday’s loss she defeated Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo (7-5, 6-1) and Russian Anna Kalinskaya, the No 23 seed (1-6, 7-5, 6-3).
