Roland-Garros hosts Paris Major Premier Padel event
Spaniards Alejandro Galán and Juan Lebrón, the world No 1s, start as the favourite for the Paris Major Premier Padel being held at Roland-Garros
Roland-Garros has been the home of the world’s most prestigious clay court tournament since 1928. Now, the historic venue is playing host to the Paris Major Premier Padel competition.
The padel tournament is being organised by the International Padel Federation (FIP) and for the first time Court Philippe Chatrier at Roland-Garros is being used to hold padel matches.
The event runs from July 11 to 17 July and is part of a multiannual agreement. The tournament offers players 2,000 ranking points and a record prize pool.
Spaniards Alejandro Galán and Juan Lebrón, who are the top-ranked players in the world, will start as the favourites, having the title in Rome recently.
Spain’s Francisco Navarro and Argentina’s Martin Di Nenno, who lost in the Rome final, are the second seeds.
Franco Stupaczuk of Argentina and Brazil’s Pablo Lima are the No 3 seeds and Argentine duo Federico Chingotto and Juan Tello are the No 4 seeds.
