Alex de Minaur was born on February 17, 1999 in Sydney, Australia. He and his family moved to Alicante, Spain when he was five years old and he split his time between Australia and Spain.

De Minaur’s best result is reaching the quarter-finals, which he has done at least once at all of the four Majors. Alex de Minaur reached his first ever Australian Open quarter-final at the 2025 edition. This marked four consecutive Grand Slam last eight appearances.
The Australian lost to eventual champion – and world No 1 – Jannik Sinner 6-3, 6-2, 6-1in the quartier-finals, in what was his 10th consecutive loss to the Italian. Along the way, the Australian beat the likes of Botic Van de Zandschulp, Francisco Cerundolo, Alex Michelsen.

Alex de Minaur won the UTS Grand Final in 2024. He qualified for the London-based event after making the final of UTS Oslo and Final Four of UTS New York earlier in the season, and went unbeaten across the tournament to claim the title.
In the round-robin phase, he beat Holger Rune 3-1 (12-13, 21-6, 17-7, 25-5), Jan-Lennard Struff 3-1 (13-16, 18-11, 19-8, 21-6) and Alexander Bublik 3-1 (20-9, 17-12, 13-14, 18-13), topping Group B.

Alex de Minaur qualified for the 2024 ATP Finals late in the season. He’s the first Australian to earn a spot in the year-end championships after compatriot Lleyton Hewitt did it in 2004. De Minaur accumulated a total of 3,745 points in the Race to Turin, winning two titles in the season, but qualified in ninth after Novak Djokovic withdrew from the competition with injury.
De Minaur lost all three of his round-robin matches at the 2024 ATP Finals, eventually being eliminated against Taylor Fritz in his third match. He lost 6-3, 6-4 to Jannik Sinner, 6-2, 6-4 to Daniil Medvedev and 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 to Fritz.

De Minaur reached his third consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final of the season at the 2024 US Open, and lost to the British No 1 Jack Draper 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.
The Aussie had not played any hardcourt events coming into New York due to the injury he sustained at Wimbledon. Prior to 2024, De Minaur had reached only Grand Slam quarter-final (US Open 2020), but he did the same at the French Open, Wimbledon and Australian Open this year.
How many ATP titles has the Australian won?
Nine. The first three came in 2019, with his maiden win coming on home soil in Sydney, where he beat Andreas Seppi of Italy to win the title. He followed it up with his second Tour title in Atlanta, where he saw off Taylor Fritz in the final, and then a third in Zhuhai, where he beat Andy Murray early on and then Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the final.
His fourth title came at the start of 2021, when he won in Antalya, Turkey, beating Alexander Bublik in the final. De Minaur won on grass in Eastbourne the same year and added his sixth title in Atlanta in 2022.
De Minaur’s biggest title to date, his first at the ATP 500 level, came in March 2023 in Acapulco. Ranked 22nd at the time, he beat Tommy Paul in three sets in the final. He then repeated the feat a year later, beating Casper Ruud in the 2024 final to successfully defend a title for the first time in his career.
On June 16th, 2024, De Minaur won his ninth title, defeating Sebastian Korda in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch final.
The Aussie has additionally reached eight other ATP singles finals, including Los Cabos in 2023 where he lost to Tsitsipas.

De Minaur won his first career ATP 500 singles title at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel Open in Acapulco. The Australian came from a set down to beat American Tommy Paul 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in two hours and 27 minutes in the final.
This came less than 24 hours after he came from a set down to beat Denmark’s Holger Rune 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the semi-finals in two hours and 48 minutes in a match that ended close to 3 AM on Saturday morning in Acapulco.

De Minaur’s career-high ranking is No 6, a mark he reached in July 2024.
