Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 4 seed, defeated American Tommy Paul 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the final of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park on Friday.
Djokovic, ranked No 5, will face Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the No 3 seed, next.
Earlier in the tournament, the 35-year-old Serb won against Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena (6-3, 6-4, 6-0), French qualifier Enzo Couacaud (6-1, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-0), Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, the No 27 seed (7-6 (7), 6-3, 6-4), Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 22 seed (6-2, 6-1, 6-2) and Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 5 seed (6-1, 6-2, 6-4).
Paul, ranked No 35, beat German Jan-Lennard Struff (6-1, 7-6 (6), 6-2), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the No 30 seed (6-2, 2-6, 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4), Jenson Brooksby (6-1, 6-4, 6-3), Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, the No 24 seed (6-2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5) and Ben Shelton (7-6 (6), 6-3, 5-7, 6-4) in the previous rounds.
