Winston-Salem Open: Cerundolo moves into last 16

Argentinian Juan Manuel Cerundolo edged out German Yannick Hanfmann, the No 10 seed, 7-6 (3), 5-7, 7-6 (4) to advance to the last 16 of the Winston-Salem Open at Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Tuesday evening.

Cerundolo, ranked No 100, will play the winner of the match between American lucky loser Omni Kumar and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp, the No 8 seed, next.

In the previous round of the Winston-Salem tournament, the 21-year-old Argentinian won against Russian Roman Safiullin (7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3).
