American J.J. Wolf, the No 5 seed, moved into the second round of the US Clay Court Championships by beating Australian Jordan Thompson 6-3, 6-2 at River Oaks Country Club in Houston on Tuesday evening.
Wolf, ranked No 54, will play American Denis Kudla next.
