Ruud replaces Sinner at upcoming MGM Rewards Slam in Las Vegas

Jannik Sinner will not play in an upcoming exhibition event in Las Vegas due to his ongoing ban from tennis. Sinner, who is suspended for three months, has been replaced by Casper Ruud.

As expected, Jannik Sinner — who is serving a three-month doping ban — will not participate in next month’s MGM Rewards Slam exhibition event in Las Vegas. Sinner’s suspension dates back to the second week of February and goes until the first week of May.

Casper Ruud is in for next month’s event at Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. The Norwegian joins Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul for a four-player round-robin event using 10-point tiebreakers.

“Ruud replaces Jannik Sinner, who will not play following his recent suspension,” a press release stated.

Naomi Osaka and Aryna Sabalenka will square off in a match, while Reilly Opelka and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard will participate in “The Ace Challenge Presented by Michelob ULTRA.”

Star-studded exhibitions in the United States immediately preceding the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells have been the norm for more than a decade. Last year’s edition featured Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal in the Netflix Slam — also held at the Mandalay Bay Resort.
