Djokovic says documentary most likely to come out in early 2022
The world No 1 says the video will be broad-ranging and could be a film or docuseries
During this year’s Australian Open, world No 1 Novak Djokovic announced the filming of a documentary about him breaking the record for most weeks as the top-ranked number player in the world.
Initially, it was due to be released during August, before the US Open, but now it seems that the documentary is going to be broad-ranging, something Djokovic is very excited about.
Speaking to Serbian journalists following his fourth round win over Jenson Brooksby, Djokovic said the release date would be later than initially planned.
“There have been some changes in the meantime, since we wanted to shoot some more material,” he said. “At the moment, the plan is for the documentary to see the light of day near the end of this year, or in the first two months of 2022. We are recording stuff here in New York as well. Then we need to edit it, to make it whole and to decide whether it is going to be a film or a docuseries. We are going to make that decision as a team.”
Djokovic: “For those who do not know me, it will be a chance to get to know me better off the court”
Once again, Djokovic reiterated that he is very excited about the whole project.
“It is about my career and my life, some of my intimate and private things,” he said. “All of the people that are closest to me have given interviews speaking about me. I feel that it is going to be very interesting and I hope that the people will like it. Also, for those who do not know me, it will be a chance to get to know me better off the court.”
In the quarter-finals of the US Open, Djokovic is scheduled to face Matteo Berrettini on Wednesday.
