Nadal, Raonic out of Cincinnati
None of the Big Three will be in Cincinnati now that the Spaniard has confirmed his absence
Less than 24 hours after withdrawing from the National Bank Open in Toronto, Rafael Nadal has now withdrawn from the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.
The tournament begins on Saturday August 14 and will now be without its 2013 champion – the last of the Big Three to remain on the entry list after Novak Djokovic’s withdrawal.
Canada’s Milos Raonic has also pulled out of the event. Last year’s runner-up is suffering from a heel injury, which is also keeping him out of Toronto.
The current men’s draw for Cincinnati includes 2019 champion Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, two-time winner Andy Murray plus Marin Cilic and Grigor Dimitrov.
The women’s draw features includes defending champion and two-time winner Victoria Azarenka plus a trio of past champions in Karolina Pliskova, Garbine Muguruza and Madison Keys.
