French qualifier Constant Lestienne moved into the second round of the Indian Wells Masters by edging out American qualifier Denis Kudla 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Thursday.

Lestienne, ranked No 100, will play No 31 seed Felix Auger-Aliassime next.
