Halle Open: Giron upsets Berrettini to reach quarters
Marcos Giron beat Matteo Berrettini 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 on Thursday. He’ll face Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, in the next round

American Marcos Giron won against Italian Matteo Berrettini 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the Halle Open at the Owl Arena/Gerry-Weber-Stadion on Thursday afternoon.
Giron, ranked No 53, will play Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 5 seed, next.
The American defeated Russian Andrey Rublev, the No 4 seed (6-4, 7-6 (5)) ahead of his victory.
In the previous round of the Halle tournament, Berrettini, ranked No 65, won against American qualifier Alex Michelsen (7-6 (5), 6-2).
