Croatia Open: Cilic goes down to Cobolli in first match since January
Cobolli will play the winner of the match between Dutch qualifier Jesper De Jong and Italian Matteo Arnaldi, the No 7 seed, in the next round
Former world No 3 Marin Cilic‘s first match on tour since January ended with a straight sets loss to Italian Flavio Cobolli at the Croatia Open in Umag.
The 34-year-old Cilic injured his knee during the first week of the season in Pune where he had to withdraw after winning his opening match in the event. The former US Open champion underwent surgery on his knee after that and played the match with a heavy strapping on the knee.
In his first match since, Cilic ran Cobolli tight but the Italian was too strong and won 6-4, 6-3 at the ITC Stella Maris in Umag on Monday to move into the second round.
