Chile Open: Etcheverry eases past home-favourite Garin

Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the No 5 seed, advanced to the quarter-finals of the Chile Open by winning against Chilean wildcard Cristian Garin 6-2, 6-4 at the Club Universidad Católica de San Carlos de Apoquindo in Santiago de Chile on Wednesday night.

Etcheverry, ranked No 43, will face Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the top seed, next.

The Argentinian beat Frenchman Hugo Gaston (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Santiago tournament.

During the first round of the Santiago tournament, Garin, ranked No 147, edged out Argentinian qualifier Juan Pablo Ficovich (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).
