Becker denies allegations he gave authorities the runaround over missing trophies
The six-time Wimbledon champion is facing 24 charges under the Insolvency Act in London
German tennis legend Boris Becker has denied allegations that he concealed some of his trophies from officials during court proceedings in London.
The six-time Grand Slam champion declared bankruptcy in 2017 and is facing charges that he did not hand over some of his assets, including nine trophies and medals, to pay off his debts.
54-year old Becker is facing 24 charges under the Insolvency Act. The German, who is currently working as a commentator for the BBC, won 49 ATP singles titles and earned more than $25 million in prize money during his 16-year career.
Authorities have charged Becker with hiding two of the three Wimbledon singles titles he won, his 1992 Olympic doubles gold medal and his two Australian Open trophies.
This is not the first time that Becker has faced legal troubles. In 2002, the German faced a conviction for tax evasion and attempted tax evasion in his country.
