ATP rankings update: No change to top 10, but Hijikata, Michelsen surge
Michelsen, Hijikata, Shang and Borges all hit career-highs this Monday
A quiet week ahead of the US Open has seen few changes to the ATP rankings this Monday.
However, four men hit career highs this week, with Nuno Borges, Alex Michelsen, Rinky Hijikata and Juncheng Shang all breaking new ground.
Here’s how the men’s top 10 looks heading into the year’s final Grand Slam:
- Jannik Sinner – 9,360 points
- Novak Djokovic – 7,460 points
- Carlos Alcaraz – 7,360 points
- Alexander Zverev – 7,035 points
- Daniil Medvedev – 6,275 points
- Andrey Rublev – 4,805 points
- Hubert Hurkacz – 4,055 points
- Casper Ruud – 3,855 points
- Grigor Dimitrov – 3,655 points
- Alex de Minaur – 3,435 points
It’s worth noting that the US Open could well bring a big reshuffle in the world’s top 10. Right now, according to the live ATP rankings, Zverev is up to No 2 in the world while Djokovic drops to No 4 and Stefanos Tsitsipas reenters the top 10 at the expense of De Minaur.
Career highs ahead of US Open
Borges achieved a career-high of No 34 on Monday, up one place from his previous career-high of No 33. The move comes despite the Portuguese player exiting early at the Winston-Salem Open.
One player who did not fall early in Winston-Salem was Michelsen, whose surge to the final also earned him a career high. The American jumps to No 49 in the world, cracking the top 50 for the first time in his short career. Title winner Lorenzo Sonego also receives a big boost, up 10 places to No 48.
Hijikata and Shang are the other two to make milestones this Monday. Hijikata moves to No 62 in the world off the back of his quarter-final run in Winston-Salem, while Shang’s round-of-16 exit sees him up to No 72 in the world.
