ATP Rankings: Alcaraz remains at No 1 as Zverev, Popyrin make big moves after titles

Hamburg winner Zverev climbs to No 16 while Umag champion Popyrin breaks into the top 60

Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz remained at the top of the ATP rankings released for the week of July 31, with the results of three ATP events form last week getting counted in.

The 20-year-old Spaniard, who will next be seen in action at the Toronto Masters next week, begins his 31st week as world No 1 as the top 10 remains static this week. Alcaraz is followed by Novak Djokovic at No 2, Daniil Medvedev at No 3, Casper Ruud at No 4, Stefanos Tsitsipas at No 5, Holger Rune at No 6, Andrey Rublev at No 7, Jannik Sinner at No 8, Atlanta champion Taylor Fritz at No 9, and Frances Tiafoe at No 10.

Outside the top 10, Hamburg champion Alexander Zverev moves up three spots to No 16; Atlanta quarter-finalist Chris Eubanks climbs three spots to a new career-high of No 29; Hamburg finalist Laslo Djere moves up 19 spots to No 38; and Frenchman Arthur Fils, a semi-finalist in Hamburg, jumps 24 positions to No 47, a new peak for the 19-year-old, who is now the highest ranked teen in the ATP rankings.

Other big movers this week include Hamburg quarter-finalist Daniel Altmaier, who moves up 10 spots to a new career-high of No 51; China’s Zhizhen Zhang, who jumps 26 spots to a new career-high of No 53 after reaching the semis in Hamburg; Umag champion Alexei Popyrin, who shoots up 33 spots to No 57 and Atlanta runner-up Aleksander Vukic, who is up 20 spots to a new peak of No 62.

Elsewhere in the top 100, 22-year-old Matteo Arnaldi, who reached the semis in Umag, is up 11 spots to a new career-high of No 65; Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, up 13 spots to No 67 after winning an ATP Challenger in Switzerland; 19-year-old Frenchman Luca Van Assche up nine spots to a new peak of No 68 after making the Hamburg quarters; Jaume Munar, a quarter-finalist in Umag, is up 13 spots to No 91; and former top 10 player David Goffin, who jumps 11 spots to return to the top 100 at No 100 after reaching the semis of the ATP Challenger in Verona.
