Chinese Zheng Qinwen, the No 8 seed, reached the last eight of the Indian Wells WTA 1000 by winning against Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk, the No 18 seed, 6-3, 6-2 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Tuesday.
Zheng, ranked No 9, will play Pole Iga Swiatek, the second seed, next.
“Well, I think it doesn’t matter… she [Swiatek] or me, both of us will give our best,” the Chinese said of Swiatek in her post-match interview. “She won like really easy the first matches at Indian Wells so she’s in good shape. Same as I, we’re gonna fight and let’s see what happens in the next match.”
