Cerundolo ends run of Van de Zandschulp to reach last 16

Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, the No 25 seed, ended the run of Dutch lucky loser Botic van de Zandschulp 6-3, 6-4 to advance to the last 16 of the Indian Wells Masters at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Monday.
Cerundolo, ranked No 26, will face the winner of the match between Pole Hubert Hurkacz, the No 21 seed, and Australian Alex De Minaur, the No 9 seed, next.
The Argentinian defeated American wildcard Mackenzie McDonald (4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1) ahead of his victory.
In the previous rounds of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters, Van de Zandschulp, ranked No 85, benefited from the abandonment of Australian Nick Kyrgios (7-6 (7), 3-0) and then won against Serb Novak Djokovic, the No 6 seed (6-2, 3-6, 6-1).
