Impressive Alcaraz marches into third round in Indian Wells

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz, the second seed, moved into the third round of the Indian Wells Masters by defeating Frenchman Quentin Halys 6-4, 6-2 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday.

Alcaraz, ranked No 3, will face Canadian Denis Shapovalov, the No 27 seed, next. It was his 13th straight win in the desert as he looks to win the title for the third time in a row.

Halys, ranked No 59, won against Spanish qualifier Pablo Carreno Busta (6-3, 6-4) in the previous round of the Indian Wells Tennis Masters.
