Sakkari snaps losing streak with second-round win in Indian Wells

Greek Maria Sakkari, the No 29 seed, picked up her first win in four matches as she beat Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova 6-0, 6-3 to reach the third round of the Indian Wells WTA 1000 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday.

Sakkari, the runner-up last year and 29th seed this year, will play the winner of the match between American Coco Gauff, the No 3 seed, and Japanese Moyuka Uchijima next.

Tomova, ranked No 63, defeated Serb Olga Danilovic (6-2, 6-3) in the previous round of the Indian Wells tournament.
