Navarro sails past Martic into Merida quarter-finals
Emma Navarro made quick work of Petra Martic in the Merida second round on Thursday. Navarro will now meet wild card Zeynep Sonmez.

American Emma Navarro, the top seed, reached the last eight of the Mérida Open Akron by beating Croat qualifier Petra Martic 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday.
Navarro, ranked No 10, will face wild card Zeynep Sonmez on Friday.
In the previous round, Martic — ranked No 124 — defeated American wild card Sloane Stephens (6-2, 6-3).
