Top seed Pegula makes second round in Austin as Rus retires

American Jessica Pegula, the top seed, moved into the second round of the Austin Open when Dutchwoman Arantxa Rus retired on Tuesday evening at the Westwood Country Club.

Pegula, ranked No 4, led 6-3, 3-2 when Rus, ranked No 90, pulled out on Tuesday at the Westwood Country Club.

The American will face Spaniard Nuria Parrizas Diaz next.
